Kathleen Castaillac (aka KC)
Principal and Founder
Sometime in early 2001, Kathleen organized a sponsorship program for Ladies' Home Journal that wrapped with a concert performance by Martina McBride at the Beacon Theater on Broadway in New York City. About 15 minutes into the concert, a little black Nokia phone dialed a number in San Jose, California and when her mom picked up all she heard was noise and a voice screaming "I did this! listen!" and then "ok, bye."
The rest, as they say, is history.
After almost a decade in magazine publishing, pushing brands to bring their pages to life with programs this for LHJ and others including a summer long program with Better Homes & Garden and the MLB, the Maximum PC Dream Machine Tour and the first years of Future US at Comic-Con Int'l, Kathleen started the first iteration of Sunshine Band Events.
After a few years, Box called and KC answered. What followed included the creation and growth of BoxWorks from 343 to 5000+, 7 versions of Box World Tour in North America, Europe and Japan, 100s of corporate sponsorships, CxO programs and the ability to make more from less while inspiring her teams to keep the music going. After an epic 7.5 years, it was time to get the band back together.
Today, Kathleen runs Sunshine Band Events while managing the lives of three people she made, a dog who doesn't like stairs and a husband that cannot understand her when she really starts laughing. She is an occasional volleyball coach, avid reader, eager traveler, a helium-handed school volunteer, dedicated supporter of LPCH and a true believer that we all are made better when we remember that we're in this together.
